Somalia Report has compiled the following non-comprehensive estimate of casualties from medics, local residents and media reports (please note: the injury count will be low, as these statistics are less reported than deaths):

APRIL BREAKDOWN

Mogadishu

57 killed and 85 injured

Heavy clashes between fighters from al-Shabaab and government forces took place in the northern districts of Hodan, Bondhere, Abdiasis, Wardhigley, H/wadag, Daynile and Yaqshid. South and Central Somalia

121 killed, 16 injured

Beled Hawo

At least 12 people, mainly civilians, have been killed and 16 others injured

Luuq

At least 62 people, mainly fighters, killed when pro-government troops backed by Ethiopian forces capture territories in Luuq district, part of the Gedo region.

Dhobley

Mortar shells fired by government forces landed on homes in Dhobley, killing 9 civilians.

El-Wak

Heavy clashes between al-Shabaab and government forces killed 12 people.

Beledweyne

Fighting killed fourteen al-Shabaab soldiers, mostly foreigners, in the village of Bar-Dhuur, near Beledweyne

Garbaharey

7 people, mainly Ahlu Sunna wal Jamaa fighters, killed

Dhusamareb

5 people, mainly fighters, killed

Puntland (not included in overall conflict count as motive uncertain)

Unidentified gunmen attacked worshippers at two mosques in Galkayo, killing at least seven people and wounding dozens more
